Vital Statistics for B2B Marketers – the video

June 10, 2010

Every week new statistics are emerging with sometimes contradictory views on the trends impacting B2B marketing. Back in March, we published a blog post: Vital Statistics for B2B Marketers – with the aim of trying to make some sense of what’s going on – and the fundamental changes that are underway.

Following considerable interest in the post, we decided to bring the story to life further producing the Vital Statistics video. We won’t shy away from the fact that we were inspired in part by the Socialnomics Social Media Revolution video – and an ongoing quest to highlight the emerging trends that we as business-to-business marketers need to adapt and respond to.

The statistics are arguably just a snapshot in time – and we’re most grateful to all those organisations who did the hard part and conducted the research in the first instance (for all the original sources – please do check out the original blog post). And while sample sizes always vary, as does the rigour with which different companies approach research, we genuinely believe the figures quoted here bear some semblance to the reality of what’s really going on out there.

Join the movement

Whether you choose to agree or disagree – we hope this is the start of some hearty debates. Please do comment, direct us to new statistics you come across or simply share your own first hand accounts of the changes you see are under way.

Also, if you’d be interested in joining a dedicated LinkedIn Group focused around identifying and discussing the key trends emerging in B2B Marketing please let us know. Please email: paul.hewerdine@earnest-agency.com (don’t worry we won’t market you to death).

Finally enjoy the video! And thanks to Dave Brubeck for providing the musical backdrop to our story.

Yes! Great video and love the music reminds me of a long time ago when I was a big Brubeck fan. I hope your video effort will make a big impact, it’s 3 minutes of education which is priceless for those B2B businesses in denial, or perhaps on the other hand they just won’t get it still. It’s not that social media is the be-all and end-all, but they just need to have a more open mind about where it could fit, and how.

If you do another one how about 3 minutes of B2B cases – the how it has worked. HOW to actually do it is a whole lot harder but there are good cases now of sustainable success. I wrote a post which is nothing that many people wouldn’t know, but a sample of 5 SME B2B presences on Facebook: http://www.walteradamson.com/2010/06/how-b2b-works-facebook-sme.html

Well done, keep it up I referenced your stats many times, and look forward to the Linkedin Group please keep us informed.

Hmm it appears like your site ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any suggestions for novice blog writers? I’d genuinely appreciate it.
